Opening boosters is one of the most fun aspects of collecting trading card games. Keeping track of all those opened cards … not so much—unless you manage your collection with TCG Home! In this article, we show you how easy it is to track cards you opened in boosters, display boxes and more in your digital collection on TCG Home. Just follow our 3-step-guide and you’ll have those cards added in no time.
Step 1: Tags & Filters
Before you actually add all the cards you opened you can make your future life easier by doing two very simple but impactful things.
One: Prepare your tags. They might seem not that important at first but they really allow you to get the most out of your digital collection later. Go to the “Tags” section in the navigation menu and create all tags you want to assign to the cards you’re about to add. For example a tag for when they were opened.
Now that your tags are all set up, you can click “Add cards” in the navigation menu and select “Use advanced filters.” Don’t worry, it’s not as complicated as it may sound. Now set your filters to the set and language of the product you opened. For example, if you opened an English booster of Wilds of Eldraine, type “Wilds of Eldraine” in the set filter and select English in the language filter. That way you only see the cards that can acually appear in your pack and you don’t need to find each one by entering card names.
Step 2: Add Your Cards
The best way to add cards from booster—especially if you opened many of them—is by looking at your filter results in table view. You can do that with the button on the far right next to your search bar.
Once you’re in table view, you can sort your cards alphabetically, by collector number, or by other qualities, depending on how you sorted you physical Magic cards you want to add. Now you can simply scroll through the set in question and add all your cards by clicking the quantity buttons. You can even assign foil and non-foil versions immediately so you don’t need to edit anything later.
Step 3: Manage Your Collection
Once you’ve selected the right quantity on all cards, you can add them all at once. If any cards can’t be added for some reason, you don’t lose those cards as your selection will be saved after all other cards get added. But before you do so, you can use the “Card settings”-button to assign tags and a condition to all cards you’re about to add. This is especially important if you add cards that are all pack-fresh and usually have the same condition.
Once your cards are added, you can filter your collection for the tags you assigned or for any other qualities you like, for example the set from which you added cards. Try some different filters and see only those parts of the collection that matter to you in any given moment.
