Keeping track of your collection is essential to the TCG hobby and we know that a lot of TCG Home users have already done that. Be it on a dedicated online platform, one the side to facilitate your deckbuilding or in a self-made spreadsheet, many TCG fans have their collection digitized somewhere. That’s why TCG Home supports importing your existing collection as a csv file, so you don’t need to add thousands of cards by hand. This article is a simple step-by-step guide to show you how it works.
Step 1: Get Your CSV File
Depending on where you source your csv file, this step might look different. If you’re aiming to line up your TCG Home collection with what you have already digitized at an online platform, you should be able to get your csv file from there. Most platforms have an export or download function that allows you to get your collection as a csv file.
Check out our documentation at the bottom of the csv import page. There you can not only find a list of platforms that export in a format that’s supported by our csv import feature, you can also get a template designed for TCG Home in case you want to edit your own file.
Step 2: Upload & Match
Once you have your file ready, simply go to Add Cards on TCG Home, select Upload a csv file and choose your csv, then press Upload. What happens next is that our system will try to match every entry in your csv file to a card in our database depending on the size of your file and the speed of your connection, this step might take a while. While the matching is in progress, you can always see how far along it is, as the number of total cards and matched cards continuously updates on your screen.
Step 3: Edit Results
Once the card matching is complete, you get a table with an overview of all matched cards. Here you can make changes to each, like quantity, finish (foil or non-foil) and condition. You can speed up this process by using the Card Settings button to set the same condition for all cards and then simply edit any cards that are outliers. You can also use Card Settings to apply one or more tags to the cards you import.
Forgot to set up tags beforehand? Not to worry! Your matched cards will be saved and remembered when you leave the add cards screen and later return to csv import, so you can easily add any missing tags at this stage.
Step 4: Success!
Once you’ve reviewed your matched cards and made any changes you need, just click Import and all matched cards get added to your TCG Home Collection. In case you forgot to export any cards that didn’t match as a separate csv, you get another chance here. You can also immediately jump to See & edit added cards, where you can delete cards again or make changes to any cards after they’ve been added to your collection.
Summary & Video Demo
With these simple steps — getting a csv file, matching it to our database and editing the results — you can upload hundreds or even thousands of cards to your TCG Home collection super fast. As always, if you still have questions about how all of this works or you simply prefer to learn it in video form, we have a video demo of this feature. Check it out on our YouTube channel, where you can find demos for other parts of the platform as well!
