Today we are proud to let you know that our first test with volunteers from the community is underway! We have seen a surge in volunteer testers on our Discord server over the last few days and the interest in this first test was bigger than we expected. In this update we will walk you through what you can expect to see from our development process and how we plan to involve the community in bringing TCG Home to life. Let’s get to it!
Our Approach to Development
Most app development projects follow a specific process of early Alpha, to closed and open Beta testing until the product is released. However, our approach for TCG Home is different. We have solid infrastructure from previous TCG Vault projects that can be incorporated with little effort, but we still need to start from the concept phase for some areas.
We believe TCG Home's success depends on meeting the needs of the TCG community, so we will conduct small focus tests for different parts of the platform to get feedback from the community. These tests will gradually become broader as development progresses until we have a thoroughly tested Beta version of the app. This full Beta will hopefully be much closer to a final product than Beta versions for similar projects.
Testing with the Community
Our first small focus test is underway and will end after this weekend. It's about our card details page and its three sub-sections: Collection management, trading info, and game insights. We opened the test to anyone who assigned themselves the Tester role on our Discord server.
More than 70% of testers indicated they wanted to join, and we could accomodate all of them this time. However, our volunteer tester pool has almost doubled since then, and we're doing our best to adapt quickly. We want to be open and flexible as we get TCG Home closer to completion.
We need you
We said it before and we will say it again: We could not do this without the support from our community. We’re glad for everyone who shares their ideas with us and for those of you who spread the word about TCG Home. However, some of you might be able to help us even more.
We are looking to expand our team.
If you have experience in UX design, product management or software development or if you are looking to build up some experience in marketing and you think TCG Home would be a cool project to work on, please check out our job board!
We’re a young, ambitious, remote-first company and we would love to welcome some of you on board.
